1907 - 14 Blackfriars Street, Leicester. Ethel's birth was registered by her mother Ethel on 11 September 1907. The registrar was G.F.Smith. Ethel's birthplace, 14 Blackfriars Street, Leicester, has long been demolished, and is now a factory in an industrial area, overlooking the arches of the also long-gone Great Central Railway. 1939 - 26 and a half Asylum St Leicester (above a fish shop). Hosiery ironer. Ethel used to buy other people's ration books to help feed her own children and make extra money.
Ethel died of cancer of the cervix. Ethel's death was remembered in The Leicester Mercury on 20 April 1955 (page 12)
