His age variations could be explained by him adding years at his marriage to be "of age".

Wedding -
William was a bachelor aged 21 and a shoe maker of Sanvey Gate, Leicester. Mary was a spinster supposedly aged 21 of St Margaret's Square, Leicester. Witnesses were Thomas Foreman and Sarah Ann Langley. Both William's surname and his father's nave been transcribed as Cox on the LRFHS St Margaret marriage CD. However the actual record has been checked, and it should be Coe.
