Maria Haskell, mother of Clara Thankful Pierce

Maria Haskell was a daughter of William Haskell and an unknown wife.

Maria was sister to Catherine Haskell Carlisle, John A. Haskell (my gr-grandfather), and Emily Haskell Cobb.

Maria's foster parents were the Rundells, who raised her from about age 8 or 9 until adulthood, in St. Lawrence County, New York. She was living with them in 1850 as "Maria Haskell." I have copies of letters she wrote to her sisters in Oregon and Michigan in 1906 -- one of them is a fascinating account of a holiday dinner eaten at the residence of Dr. Moulding in Watertown, Wisconsin. - NS
