In the late 1910s Elizabeth Ambuhl Moulding (WCAS18)was secretary to Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences dean Thomas F. Holgate, who at one point was interim president of Northwestern. Later Elizabeth became secretary to George Howerton, dean of the music school. "My mother loved working for Dean Holgate but she found Howerton a bit intimidating. He was a tyrant, and that's confirmed by other people, too," she says. "The contrast with Dean Holgate was terrific."
