Computer Tips
The pop-out menus make navigation easy. Don’t see them? Try a web-standards-compliant browser.
Hover your mouse over a graphic for a description.
When searching remember that spellings vary in historical documents. So for “Nellie” try “Ellen”, “Helen”, “Helena”, and some records were “Molding”, “Moulden”, “Moleding” etc.
Choose how you want to view a web page. Some websites impose a font on you but many allow a default to your preference. Somewhere in your browser, probably under Preferences or Options, there is a dialog box to change your fonts. Select your favourite fonts and then you will be able to view many web sites, such as this one, the way you like best.
When searching with Google or other search engine, use speech marks to get better results. If you are looking for Fred Bloggs, using “Fred Bloggs” will be much more successful than Fred Bloggs.
